This destination art fair seeks to highlight the uniqueness of the city and put Fort Lauderdale on the art world map as a premiere location to view, interact with and purchase art along with giving art aficionados, residents and visitors a cultural experience that is memorable, interactive and engaging.
Social Entrepreneurs & Culture Crusaders Andrew Martineau and Evan Snow create an international art fair designed to highlight the uniqueness of the city's waterways and put Fort Lauderdale on the art world map as a premiere location to view, interact with and purchase art along with giving art aficionados, residents and visitors a cultural experience that is memorable, interactive and engaging. The fair adopts the nickname The Art Fair on the Water with more than 1,500 visitors attending the inaugural show to see 100 artists representing 3 countries.
In its second year the fair launched its Artist Talk Series, began a partnership with AIA Fort Lauderdale, formulated a partnership with luxury magazine and the local Realtors Association. Artist representation expands to include artists from the United States, Canada, Taiwan, China, Japan, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Finland, Austria, Poland and France.
The fair features Obvious (an Paris-based artist collective the created the world's first AI generated artwork) that was subsequently auctioned at Christie's for $450k. The Fair co-founders also launch Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week to create a platform for Fort Lauderdale’s premier cultural institutions to join forces for a citywide celebration of art and culture, showcasing key exhibition and event alignments with leading arts district, studios, and cultural institutions and ending with the Art Fair on the Water.
