Interactive Initiatives takes over a water-front home with an immersive and interactive project for Interactive Playhouse at 2019 Art Fort Lauderdale Fair.
During Art Fort Lauderdale, Interactive Playhouse will take over an entire home with immersive projections, video, performance and interactive art by local and national contemporary artists. As visitors meander through the property, they will enter zones of artistic practice that will envelop the viewer and challenge their sense of perception and reality.
Using multiple projectors, whole rooms will be engulfed with audio and video projections by artists. Interactive first-person gaming-as-art projects will invite participants to navigate augmented and virtual worlds on their own. An interactive green screen installation will engage visitors with a range of psychedelic scenes and props. Hypnotic, candy colored videos will mesmerize and enchant.
Outside, facing the water and water taxi dock, special performances will be presented throughout the day including performative sculpture appearances and artist-made video game character interactions. Large-scale puppets will interact with visitors, comforting, questioning and providing company to those enjoying weather, arriving, departing and waiting for their transport. A transformative cosmetic salon experience will be presented with with interactive green screen activities.
A shop area will be set up on the ground floor featuring small artworks, clothing and merchandise produced by exhibiting artists.
Interactive Playhouse will be on view throughout the open hours of the Art Fort Lauderdale fair, with a special music/art performance featuring musicians *Afrobeta, presented in the closing party (*limited space ticketed event).

Afrobeta
Miami natives Cuci Amador and Tony Smurphio make up the electro afro-jazz, dance duo that is Afrobeta, Cuci on vocals, belting out tropical funk vibes, and Tony on the mixing board, bringing together afro funk and Gloria Estefan worthy beats. Afrobeta’s unique (and diverse) sound transcends genre classifications. Cuci’s rapid-fire delivery, combined with Smurphio’s funky synths and head bopping basslines keep moving from start to finish. |
